Winter can be hard on pets, please follow these simple guidelines to ensure that they remain healthy and comfortable.

Please make sure your animals have warm, dry, comfortable beds and shelter from the wind for those that must stay outdoors.

If your dog or horse appears stiff or lame, especially when rising, they may be suffering from arthritis. Have your veterinarian evaluate them and prescribe appropriate anti inflammatory drugs to keep them comfortable. The cold weather makes arthritis much worse and can be crippling if left untreated.

Never give your pet an antiinflammatory drug without speaking to your veterinarian. Many human drugs can be toxic or even fatal to your pet.

Keep your dog away from the holiday chocolates! Too much chocolate is toxic and can be fatal to a dog.

Don't offer your pets the rich, fatty foods you enjoy during the holiday season. These treats can cause your pet, especially small dogs, to develop pancreatitis-a painful disease that requires intensive treatment.
